Linea de Investigación

Mi interés de investigación es la evaluación de métodos de mitigación sustentables de enfermedades de afectan los cultivos frutales de importancia económica en la Región del Maule y su validación en programas fitosanitarios usados comúnmente por los productores, tanto orgánicos como convencionales. Por lo mismo, una de las enfermedades que más he estudiado en nuestra región es la Sarna del Manzano, causado por el hongo Ascomycete Venturia inaequalis, en donde aparte de evaluar nuevas moléculas químicas y biopesticidas para su control, también he validado aplicaciones de enmiendas orgánicas y urea para la degradación de su fuente de inóculo a finales de invierno. Mi otra línea de trabajo son las pudriciones de postcosecha de manzanas, peras y cerezas, cuya infección ocurrió en el huerto. Por ello, estamos dilucidando los ciclos biológicos, los factores epidemiológicos, la variabilidad genética y los mejores métodos integrados de control de la Pudrición Calicinal de Manzanas y Moho Gris de la Cereza, causado por Botrytis cinerea y otras especies; Corazón Mohoso de la Manzana y Alternariosis en Cerezos, causado por especies del hongo Alternaria, y Pudrición Ojo de Buey de la Manzana causado por Neofabraea vagabunda. En vides, debido a su alta incidencia y severidad, he abordado las Enfermedades de la Madera, causado por un complejo de hongos diversos, evaluando estrategias de mitigación de infecciones a nivel de vivero, tales como el uso de biocontroladores nativos y micorrizas.
